Final Blog

It’s hard to believe this is the final blog. The time went by so fast, feeling slightly longer than the carousel ride, haha. Everything is coming together, and I am grateful for my team; whether we meet or not, we stay communicated.

I have already created highlights for all 5 boroughs on Instagram. Now I need to finish adding all the carousels to the appropriate highlight.  Unfortunately, we discovered a typo in one of my posts. It has been up for a week; therefore, I think I will make a story with the edited version and then repost it at a later date. I missed one post based on my tracker, however, that was more of a bonus post, so I was able to easily get back on track.

I’m looking forward to the showcase, showing off the final product, and hopefully also getting more traction on social media. My last goal is to attend the last carousel, so we legitimately mean we visited all 14 carousels.

Last week was productive and fun. We are getting lots of traction on our Instagram page, specifically due to the Meet the Team Post! We received 716 views and 19 likes. I did fall slightly behind schedule with my weekend post; however, I am now back on track and feel confident about maintaining my schedule.

I do, however, need to buckle down on my blogs. I hope to finish one today and begin working on the other one, too!

Some exciting things happened last week. I received our promotional bookmarks and also our stipend!  In regards to other items on my to do’s it wasn’t  as productive as I was hoping for. I have been adjusting my timeline to post on social media. Although according to analytics 73% of our views are from non followers.

I confirmed that one of the carousel I planned to visit doesn’t open until May 3rd, so I may have to miss one, hopefully  I can find a way to squeeze it in.  I was hoping to complete my blog but found it challenging, primarily due to me getting sick towards the end of the week. Thankfully I recovered enough to visit another carousel and watch my little one do their Easter egg hunt.

My goal for this week is to focus more time on social media, I want to post 1-2 times per week until May 13.  I need to complete My blog, and upload my data from the Conservation Carousel.

We are slowly getting things into shape. Carla will be presenting tonight. She designed a wonderful presentation! I finally began posting on Instagram yesterday, and we even started to get some followers.

I still need to work on my blog for Sea Glass, which I plan to complete tonight, and continue drafting some more posts.  It’s crazy to think we have one month left, and I still need to visit two more carousels.

Last week was productive. During class time, we finalized the fonts which was the last item to complete the brand kit. I created a style guide and organized the graphics for the team to easily access. I also accepted the stipend, now waiting for it to be disbursed.

Taking advantage of Saturday’s weather, I visited the Sea Glass carousel.  It was nice yet a long trip, but the kids had a blast! I had to tell them it was snack time just to get a break from chasing them. I like the fact we are taking the time to visit the carousels because it makes it feel more tangible. I was able to get clarity on pricing for example kids under 12 months are free.

Next steps for me, is to update the data on the Sea Glass carousel. Work on a promotional flyer or card to handout and begin creating content to post on Instagram.

Last week was great, we were very productive during class time! The website and map is coming along well, I created an Instagram account @carouselsofnyc, and we finalized on a logo (see below).  I feel like things are starting to come together. Now that we have the logo, I focused on creating a brand kit with theme colors, fonts, graphics, and icons. Next steps on my end is to update the Instagram profile, draft content, create a banner for our website, and, now that it’s getting nicer out, I need to visit some carousels with my kids.

I think we are doing well with our project. We check in weekly outside of class hours which helps us finalize any questions on the assignment due that week and prepare for the next week. Last week our group discussed the budget, and we decided to allocate some money to pay for Canva, which I’m ecstatic about. Funny enough when it comes to the logo, I prefer the options I already drafted with the free version, however, I still have some inspiration I can try again now with the paid account. Having the paid version will help with other aspects of the project, like creating a brand template that tracks font, colors, etc..

Carousels of NYC – Social Media Plan

Platform:

  • Instagram will be the main platform used to promote our project.
  • Linktree will be created if we gain traction or decide to collaborate with others

Outreach and Tracking Goals:

  • Our goal is to engage with tourists, families, and carousel enthusiasts
  • We may potentially track likes, saves, and share

Content & Communication:

  • The tone of our content will be casual and fun. We will primarily be creating our content, however, we may occasionally share content from other users on our story.
  • Julissa will be responsible for responding to any Instagram comments and DMs. When necessary, she will delegate responses to appropriate team members and, when needed, will refer users to the project’s Gmail.

Blog 4 – Reflecting on Data Management

Similar to other documents we have worked on, I feel that we have already begun to discuss some of these outcomes as a team. For example, will the project be maintained after the semester ends? The data management plan helped to finalize some of those loose ends and also ensured that we were all on the same page. While we are all working on different parts of the project, it’s still important that we all know how to save and search for the files needed.
